RELIGIONS, SPIRITUALITIES, AND ETHIC IN EUROPE TODAY.

Adriene Belrose.
Born in France in 1994, Adriene had already obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from Claude Bernard University in Lyon by the age of 18. Her parents were memebers of the Raelian Movement, however Adriene was not a memeber. Outsatnding in her field as a Type 1 Cancer research specialist, she was expected to announce a significant move forward in the cure for cancer within the year. She died January 2014, Clonaid kept blood samples from when she was born, and her parents have asked them to clone Adriene so she can continue research.
Clonaid.
Clonaid was founded in Febuary 1997, by Rael, who claimed that aliens called 'Elohim' had created all life on earth through DNA technology. The company's mission was to imitate the Elohim and clone human beings in order to achieve immortality, and by september 2001 Clonaid claimed it had created its first cloned human embryo. However, the authenticity of this claim, and in fact of the entire company has been called into question, with stories of their laboratories being nothing more than rented office space.
Catholic Church.
There are very clear teachings within Catholicism which outline the medical ethics of cloning. It takes it's stance from it's beliefs about the moral status of embryos. Roman Catholicism is the largest religion in France and makes up approximately 45% of the French population. Pre-revolution the Catholic church was the state religion and as such has close historical and political links with the state but because of the 1905 separation of church and state laws, and subsequent legislation, this link has been removed in an attempt to approach all religions neutrally.
